It saddens me sometimes that videos like this never show pictures of smiling people. Yes, the world is suffering, but you so often hear people come back from missions saying, "They had so much joy!" Karen and I have talked a lot about that, about how a more balanced veiw is needed. Then again, people would be far less likely to go.
Maybe even I would be far less likely to go.
I wonder, too, what the role of the social gospel is now. Is it all about conversion, or are we losing the emphasis on creating change and defending the rights of the poor and oppressed? I've been wrestling with that a lot.
