What a word: glory

Sometimes I have these moments where I feel as if I know more of God's plan in my life and can realize the greatness of His work. Most of the time I'm lost - but I have glimpses of His sovereignty... and it overwhelms me in its incomprehensibility. His glory reigns o'er all the earth, yet it is so far above me. I feel like I'm at the bottom of the ocean looking up trying to see past the heavens to measure its magnitude. It is endless. It is beyond my eyesight and I am undone.

Here's a great song, that lends itself to the question of God's sovereignty and the contentment we must have in the face of multiple unanswered questions:

Whate’er my God ordains is right:
His holy will abideth;
I will be still whate’er He doth;
And follow where He guideth;
He is my God;
though dark my road,
He holds me that I shall not fall:
Wherefore to Him I leave it all.

Whate’er my God ordains is right:
He never will deceive me;
He leads me by the proper path:
I know He will not leave me.
I take, content, what He hath sent;
His hand can turn my griefs away,
And patiently I wait His day.

Whate’er my God ordains is right:
His loving thought attends me;
No poison can be in the cup
That my Physician sends me.
My God is true; each morn anew
I’ll trust His grace unending,
My life to Him commending.

Whate’er my God ordains is right:
He is my Friend and Father;
He suffers naught to do me harm,
Though many storms may gather,
Now I may know both joy and woe,
Some day I shall see clearly
That He hath loved me dearly
.
Whate’er my God ordains is right:
Though now this cup, in drinking,
May bitter seem to my faint heart,
I take it, all unshrinking.My God is true;
each morn anewS
weet comfort yet shall fill my heart,
And pain and sorrow shall depart.

Whate’er my God ordains is right:
Here shall my stand be taken;
Though sorrow, need, or death be mine,
Yet I am not forsaken.
My Father’s care is round me there;
He holds me that I shall not fall:
And so to Him I leave it all.

This Raw Heart

Going over Isaiah 5 at Bible study tonight, I am reminded how raw the hearts of God's people must be in our relationship with Him. Today my principal worked through the fifth month anniversary of his son Sam's death. It is difficult to imagine such heartache. Even worse to imagine the pain of two boys in my school whose mother tried to commit suicide last week. Not to mention the struggle and grief of all my kiddoes whose parents are struggling with drug and alcohol addictions.

My heart grieves.

It aches for them to know the Comforter and the only One who can make things right in their lives. He is our only Hope.

My heart is raw before Him as I am angry with injustices and the seemingly unfair consequences of sin in this life and as I cry about what innocents see every day.

Lamentations 3:16- is real to me. What God breaks our teeth with gravel? It is so hard sometimes to see Him in this ugly world. Yet to see through the mud and mire, I see wonder and amazement in His Creation.

I see grace. I experience grace. That is all my raw heart needs. His grace comforts me and gives me hope... and this hope does not disappoint.
